Aqaba is located on the southern border of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the Red Sea in the Gulf of Aqaba, 330 km south of Amman, the Kingdom’s sole maritime port. Its strategic location is the point of contact between the three continents of Asia, Europe and Africa.
The Gulf of Aqaba is the eastern part of the Red Sea, located to the east of the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia have coasts on this Gulf. It is called the Gulf of Aqaba after the city of Aqaba on its northern coast.
